Molepane Daphney Tshehla is No 3 of 10 siblings, grew up in Mohlaletse Village (Ga-Sekhukhune) in Limpopo Province. She is married to Cde Hlakudi Tshehla and are blessed with three kids {Thabiso (Boy-17 years); Nthabiseng and Ditheto (Girls- 12 years and 8 years)}. She holds range of Environmental qualifications (National Diploma; B-Tech and Bsc Hons in Environmental Management) as well as GIBS MBA which was obtained in 2019. Her MBA research project was on Stakeholder engagement - exploring sources of conflicts between communities and mining companies following implementation of agreed engagement outcomes. Daphney started her environmental career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2001 and worked for Eskom from 2002 - 2008. She then joined Goedehoop Colliery as Environmental Coordinator in 2008 and has since progressed her career through various environmental positions including Environmental Superintendent at Goedehoop Colliery; Environmental Specialist at Projects, and most recently Divisional Environmental Specialist at Thungela Resources (Previously known as Anglo Coal SA) prior her appointed as Environmental Manager at Thungela Resources from  01 April 2020 to current. She established platform and coordinates relevant regulators (DMRE & DWS) engagements on Thungela Resources Environmental challenges/permits/licences which enabled the company to obtain environmental permits on time to facilitate the developments of new projects and compliance with environmental legislation at Operational sites. She often tells people that “Ubuntu” principle was embedded from her upbringing hence her caring personality. She believes in developing young professionals and thus she is currently mentoring vast number of environmental talents within Thungela Resources and outside.
