Mthokozisi Zondi graduated in BSc Electrical Engineering from University of the Witwatersrand in 1993. He joined Anglo American as a Junior Engineer at then the Western Deep Levels, now known as Anglogold Ashanti Savuka and Mponeng Mines.
He joined Eskom at Lethabo Power Station as an Electrical Engineer in the Design and Specifications Section. Mthokozisi then moved to Department of Minerals Resources and Energy, as Director: Mine Equipment. He was later promoted to Deputy Chief Inspector of Mines responsible for Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free State and Eastern Cape. Mthokozisi is a member of the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) Board and a member of the Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC).
He obtained the Government Certificate of Competency: Electrical Engineering in June 1996. Mthokozisi also completed a number of management development course including Executive Development Programme from the Wits University, Business School.
